Not the house, the site. Brooklynrowhouse.com has been running on the Drupal content management system since 2006. But that version(v6) was really old and was essentially pre-mobile. Google Analytics was giving me grief about the mobile issues. What really closed the deal for WordPress is that the upgrade path for Drupal has always been painfully steep. In the interim I’ve picked up WordPress consulting jobs so it made sense to ditch Drupal and just push everything to WordPress.
I actually have a lot of relevant house/DIY-centric content to write about. For instance, there’s my new ISY994i home automation controller and some new Insteon devices, There’s the humongous pine tree root in the back yard pushing up my pavers, my new 1GB broadband, complete replacement of my problematic and poorly-supported Fujitsu split unit air conditioning with Mitsubishi, and finally getting my Delta table saw fixed (it was on the DL for over a year). Sadly, there’s also the passing of Jack, my wonderful Newfoundland doppelgänger. But it will have to wait for a bit while I let the software config here stabilize. On deck are several new projects too, including refinishing the first floor floors.
I’ve also been derelict from the home reno grind for the past couple of years, re-engaging with my previous career.
